ghost : Eighty four

Last summer, I finally made it to Georgia O’Keeffe’s beloved home, riding the RTD bus from Ghost Ranch to Abiquiu on US Route 84. Stepping aboard, my driver blasted her favourite songs on repeat; a bizarre juxtaposition of exquisite red rock with 1981 hit, Urgent by Foreigner. ghost : eighty four seeks to capture and express my perception of New Mexican landscape and the music that accompanied it.

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Repertoire Orchestra, conducted by Daniele Rosina.

kindly, softly

a study of gentle and lilting arpeggiation, through repetition and subtle variation. Working with this material, I was drawn to treating it with delicate care and an intuitive sense of humanity. The kindness and patience of others toward their art became a stimulus for my approach in this music.

Performed by Mira Benjamin and Philip Thomas.

waterglass

Echoing the gentle hum of water glasses. Exploring my curiosity for this sound, waterglass is hinged on subtle changes in colour and dynamics, where voices shift to reach a point of unison and then release into independence.

Written for Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and performed here by Georgina Silverton, Jacob Perry, Karel Vrbík, Flora McNicoll and
Rory Anderson.

In music, I connect physically to the sound - shaping, carving , choreographing...
